Wind & kite: choosing your spot in Madagascar

Wind & kite: choosing your spot in Madagascar

Guaranteed sensations on the wings of the wind: Sakalava Bay, the Emerald Sea, Anakao — which spot for which level, and in which season.

Some regions of Madagascar are ideal for those who love wind and waves. There are perfect spots for experts and excellent ones for beginners — and depending on the time of year and your expectations, we will help you choose the most appropriate place to guarantee excellent wind statistics and sensations.

Sakalava Bay

East of the great bay of Diego-Suarez, the North's emblematic spot: the varatraza blows from April to November, steady and strong, over a lagoon framed by immense beaches. Ideal for progressing or for committed sessions — this is where our Sakalava Kite stay takes place.

The Emerald Sea

Across the Diego pass, a shallow turquoise lagoon, clean wind and an unreal setting: one of the most photogenic playgrounds in the Indian Ocean, reached by dhow from Ramena.

Anakao, in the Deep South

Facing the Mozambique Channel south of Tuléar, Anakao lines up reliable trade winds, flat water behind the reef and Vezo fishing villages. The perfect complement to a journey through the Deep South.

Our advice: from April to November, head North with the varatraza; the rest of the year, the South takes over. Tell us your level and your dates — we build the itinerary around the wind.
